6 things

6 things (3 each) about our girls that give me joy right now:

Isadora: the happy, intoxicated way she looks at me when she is breastfeeding; her big toothless smile and cute little giggle; and her warm head that is so nice to nuzzle.

Genevieve: the cute and creative songs she sings; her genuine kindness for others; the way she is learning so much about the world and how she loves to share that love with Patrick and I.

OK and two bonus things that I love mostly because they make my life that much easier :) Evie gets herself dressed every morning for school (sometimes without us asking!) and Isadora sleeps for between 8 to 10 hours a night... one is a welcome permanent addition to the way our house operates the other I have no hope for maintaining in the long term....but that is OK too.

In the bath Evie puts a washcloth on her head and says, "Look Mommy, a hat, I'm pretty. I like it." - 1/25/09
After farting Evie turns to my Mom and says: "Mina, I'm fart." - 12/25/08
Evie: "Daddy, ouchie, need kisses"
Daddy:"Where Evie?"
Evie: "Daddy, I have ouchie on this butt" as she points to her left butt cheek - 12/17/08
Patrick's Boss at the skybox- "What are you looking for Evie?"
Evie (as she opens and shuts cabinets) - "Drink of wine?" - 12/6/08
"Let's go, vamanos!" - 12/3/08
"OK baby [doll], jump, shake, shimmy it out." - 11/21/08

Isadora's First Year(ish)

7/14 - Walks!!!
7/10 - 1 Year! Izzy weighs 22 lbs 8 oz and is 32.3 inches tall
7/7 - Stands alone for as long as she wants
6/29 - Can get to a stand without help
6/28 - Can stand alone for more than a few seconds
6/18 - Claps when you say "Bravo!"
5/26 to 6/8 - Trip to Costa Rica!
5/20 - Starts saying Mama (usually when she is upset and wants something)
5/15 - Starts to cut another 4 teeth!
5/15 - Starts cruising around
5/10 - Starts saying Dada all the time, takes a step but more like a fall forward
4/24 - Stands alone, but not regularly
4/10 - 9 months! 29.5 inches and 19 lbs 13 oz
4/8 - Tries to push a push toy, gets scared
4/2 - Starts to cruise a little
3/25 - Pulls to a stand
3/20 - Starts to (more) regularly sleep for 9 hrs a night
3/17 - Crawls!
3/15 - Cuts first tooth
3/9 - Easily gets from belly to sitting up
3/4 - Somehow gets from belly to sitting up (middle of the night I find her this way..)
3/1 - Starts to drag herself along the floor Marine style
2/25 - Favorite game is stealing Patrick's glasses (Stinker!)
2/17 - Visits DC and meets Mimi, Aunite Vivi and cousins Dylan and Pete
2/13 - Moves into her own room, goes to bed easy(ier)
2/8 - Starts using a bit of a pincer grasp to get puffs
2/2 - Is sleeping in her own crib and waking up every 5 hrs or so
1/28 - Start of "sleep training" misery all around
1/25 - Only breastfeeding at night (aka Mommy stops pumping)
1/15 - Sits confidently
1/ 10 - 6 months! 28.8 inches and 17 lbs 8 oz
1/8 - Starts to blow some serious raspberries (especially when I ask her if she wants more dinner...)
1/7 - Starts rolling from back to front and tries carrots (and loves 'em)
1/6 - Can sit on her own for a few minutes, still lacks perfect balance
1/2 - Starts rolling from belly to back every time she is laid down
12/30 - First camping trip!
12/26 - Can roll from belly to back, but only when naked
12/21 - Becomes a hazard to my earrings, morning coffee and anything else within reach
12/19 - Ear infection and trip to the doctor
12/17 - Starts speaking beginning gnome
11/25 - Starts chowin' on rice cereal
11/24 - Tripods, falls over after about 30 seconds
11/10 - 4 Months! Isadora is 15 lbs and 26.0 inches
10/31 - First Halloween, Izzy is a tiger
10/30 - Moves into a big baby crib and stops sleeping all night :(
10/3 - Rolls from tummy to back... but only once
10/2 - Visit with Liam, weighs 13 lbs and 3 oz
9/28 - First cold :(
9/23 - Goes to Brazil!
9/23 - Brings hand to the midline and starts sucking on them
9/18 - Starts "talking" to us with her coos
9/14 - Laughs!
9/3 - First football game
8/31 - Dr visit, 11 lbs 2 oz and 23.5 inches... cries first real tears after her shots
8/30 - Eyes look a little hazel
8/23 - First day with Borelys
8/21 - First trip to the pool... coos and smiles the whole time
8/17 - Sleeps for 8.5 hours! (Evie doesn't though)
8/15 - Social smiles
8/12 - Starts sleeping for 7 hours each night
8/3 - Coos (but just once)
8/1 - Starts to smile
7/26 - Trip up to Mt. Lemmon
7/20 - Back up to birth weight (exactly!)
7/19 - Sleeps for 6 hours
7/18 - Holds up her head and turns it
7/14 - First long car ride up to the cabin
7/13 - Down to just 6 lbs 12 oz
7/10 - Isadora is born at 9:40 pm, 7 lbs 12 oz and 19 inches

Genevieve's First Year

04/06/08 ONE YEAR!! Evie is 20 lbs 6 oz and 31.5 inches tall.
04/03/08 Can walk across the room with out falling
03/23/08 Evie's Easter extravaganza... three parties and two egg hunts!
03/22/08 Gets to a stand all by herself
03/21/08 Stoops to pick something up and stands back up w/o falling
03/20/08 Loves to walk around with you holding her hand... won't quite walk on her own
03/18/08 Says daddy, tickle, dooo (aka dog) and cat (usually in the right context even :)
03/09/08 Graduates to sippy cups
03/08/08 Takes two steps
03/05/08 Cuts a top tooth!
03/01/08 Mom's 30th B-day party
03/01/08 Will try to take a step (but only one) on her own
02/25/08 Can walk w/ baby walker
02/23/08 Finally gets a 3rd tooth (but it isn't a top one...)

02/06/08 Starts sleeping well (at least 8 hrs a night) after we implement an evening routine

12/10 Reguarly pulling herself to a stand...can't get down though
11/30 Eating cheese, lentils, yogurt, rice and (yes it is true) spinach
11/26 Pulls self to stand (so far it has only happened once....)
11/26 Spends a whole day with Mom at work
11/22 Trip to Mexico!

10/20 Realizes that solid food isn't so bad and starts chowin'
